Village Roadshow Studios is the largest studio lot in the Southern Hemisphere, housing state of the art film production facilities that attract some of the largest global film productions.
Opened on 22 July 1988 by De Laurentiis Entertainment Limited the studios where acquired by Village through the takeover of De Laurentiis Entertainment Limited in September 1988. In late 1988 Warner Bros. and Seaworld Property Trust each took a one-third equity participation in the studio and it was subsequently renamed 'Warner-Roadshow Studios' in December 1988. Village moved to 100% ownership of the studios in July 2006 and the studios were renamed 'Village Roadshow Studios' in 2009. The studios now comprises of 9 sound stages, 3 water tanks, 11 production offices, editing suites, workshops, wardrobe and support facilities.
Village Roadshow Studios has a long history of working with global studios and content producers on large scale projects. An estimated A$4.2bn worth of films have been produced at the studios including Elvis, San Andreas, Thor: Ragnarok, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales and Aquaman.
