Cinema Exhibition

Cinema Exhibition is where Village Roadshow started. Today the division operates under the Village Entertainment brand and includes the Village Cinemas and Intencity businesses and is continuing to diversify into a range of dynamic entertainment offerings including premium bar concepts and standalone food and beverage brands such as Chef's Gourmet popcorn.

Village Cinemas

Village Cinemas is one of Australia's largest cinema operators, and combined with joint venture partner Event Hospitality & Entertainment Limited has nearly 600 screens across 58 sites across all Australian states. Since commencing operations in the 1950's, Village Cinemas has both expanded the number of cinemas it operates and enriched the cinema going experience. In particular Village Roadshow was one of the first companies to develop the multiplex concept and make stadium seating a standard fixture in all its cinemas. It was also Australia's first major cinema exhibitor to convert 100% of its screens to the digital format.

The creation of 'entertainment destinations' is central to the division's strategy. The Cinema Exhibition division has a clear strategy to position itself as a destination of choice through a diverse offering of exceptional social and targeted cinema experiences which are complemented by high standard traditional cinemas. These concepts appeal to specific market segments and give Village Cinemas a competitive advantage.

Gold Class Cinemas are luxury, premium venues offering personalised service; smaller more private and intimate cinemas; customer designed recliner seating and state of the art projection and sound systems. This style of cinemas has been particularly popular for corporate functions and those looking for a more memorable movie going experience.

Vmax are truly big screens which bring movies to patrons in the most realistic and impactful way. Films are seen as they are meant to be seen, all the comedy, action and drama of the movies come to life.
