Film Production

VRL's Film Production division is held via its 47.6% equity accounted investment in Village Roadshow Entertainment Group (VREG), which is VRL's film production division, Village Roadshow Pictures (VRP).  VRP co-produces and co-finances feature length commercial motion pictures for exhibition in international theatrical markets and for subsequent worldwide release in all international media, including home video, DVD, and pay and free television. VRP's motion pictures are developed and produced in partnership with major US motion picture studios, predominantly Warner Bros.

While Village Roadshow began producing Australian films in the 1970s, the co-production agreement between Village Roadshow and Warner Bros, which began in 1998, expanded Village Roadshow's film production activities into larger budget, traditional Hollywood films for the global marketplace.  VRP also has a fledgling co-production business in Asia based in China.

VRP is one of the leading independent Hollywood movie producers having won 8 Academy Awards and 3 Golden Globe Awards for films including Training Day, Mystic River and Happy Feet and has produced 74 films with global box office takings of almost US$12 billion including blockbuster hits such as:

VREG previously also owned a business in the music industry, Concord Music Group, which was held from February 2008 to March 2013.
