Film Production and Music

Village Roadshow Pictures Group (VRPG), is the film production division of Village Roadshow with our strategic US partners Crescent Entertainment Inc. VRPG co-produces and co-finances feature length commercial motion pictures for exhibition in international theatrical markets and for subsequent worldwide release in all international media, including home video, DVD, and pay and free television. VRPG's motion pictures are developed and produced in partnership with major US motion picture studios, predominantly Warner Bros.

While Village Roadshow began producing Australian films in the 1970s, the co-production agreement between Village Roadshow and Warner Bros, which began in 1998, expanded Village Roadshow's film production activities into larger budget, traditional Hollywood films for the global marketplace.

Village Roadshow Pictures is the leading independent Hollywood movie producer having won 8 Academy Awards and 3 Golden Globe Awards for films including Training Day, Mystic River and Happy Feet.

Village Roadshow Pictures has produced 62 films in the past 10 years with global box office takings of US$9.3 billion including blockbuster hits such as:

• The Matrix trilogy
• The Ocean’s trilogy
• Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
• Happy Feet
• and most recently, I Am Legend, Get Smart and Gran Torino.

The Company has recently diversified into the music industry. There is a strong strategic fit between movies and music – movies sell music and music sells movies. On 7 February 2008 VRPG merged with Concord Music Group to form a diversified entertainment division, Village Roadshow Entertainment Group (“VREG”). VREG consists of merged film and music businesses, coupling a broad film library with a vast catalogue of master recordings and music publishing rights. VREG is based in Los Angeles and is 40.894% owned by Village Roadshow.
